Project Overview
Utility companies play a huge role in the world’s transition to clean energy, and our goal is to provide essential services and support to help our customers lead the way. In Kokomo, Indiana, we partnered with a Midwest utility client in harnessing traditional energy to fuel a renewable technology manufacturer and the local economy.
Key Highlights
In October 2022, we began work on the Kokomo Fusion Project for our long-term utility customer in Northern Indiana. Designed to power a $2.5 billion electric vehicle (EV) battery plant in Kokomo, the project comprised an 18-mile natural gas pipeline constructed with 24- and 16-inch steel. Our role was to be a strategic partner in all stages, employing our expertise on everything from construction to geotechnical issues to quality and safety. Environmental considerations were paramount, with the complex terrain exhibiting changing ground conditions that included sand, water, and clay.
