  • Company Riggs Distler
  • Capability
    • Emergency Response & Storm Restoration
  • Completion January 2026

Project Overview

In January 2026, working with three different utilities, we mobilized more than 130 full-time employees to support storm restoration efforts across the Northeast, answering the call as a major winter and ice storm moved through the region. From Arizona to Vermont, our transmission and distribution teams mobilized quickly to support communities from South Carolina through Rhode Island, working long hours in difficult conditions to help restore power safely and efficiently.

Key Highlights

Meteorologists described the winter storm as “potentially historic” as it impacted nearly 230 million people due to its sheer size and duration. In addition to our linemen, our power restoration efforts included project managers, field mechanics, and safety personnel. Our fleet team and tool room worked behind the scenes to ensure trucks were fueled, stocked, and ready to roll at a moment’s notice. This level of readiness made a real difference for our utility partners and the communities that relied on us.

Challenges and Results

Our teams faced numerous challenges due to winter conditions, which brought a wide swath of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and ice, along with gusty winds and heavy snowfall. Despite these conditions, all teams worked together to keep operations running smoothly, equipment operational, and crews safe.
